The Fengyan Terraces are located in Hanyin County, Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, and are the largest surviving ancient terraced system in the Qinba Mountain region.

On March 1, 2026, Shaanxi’s first "Terrace Protection Law" — the Regulations on the Protection and Utilization of the Fengyan Terraces in Hanyin, Ankang — officially came into effect.

2026年3月1日，陕西首部“梯田法”——《安康市汉阴凤堰梯田保护与利用条例》施行。

The regulation draws hard red lines to safeguard the terrace ecosystem, provides incentives and subsidies for traditional farming, and creates new opportunities for rural revitalization and sustainable development.
